I Refuse to Forget

By Timothy Glenn Campbel

To you, my friend, I’ll know you,

Even when my memory fades;

When darkness will take my eyes,

I will still search for you.

Because now is permanent.

Stuck in tales of history,

Engraved on the stone I have,

And written in my heart.

I knew none until I came,

Still do I forget your name.

We have very different pasts,

but we share here and now.

Though I pray we’ll meet again.

To where we go, I don’t know,

And if none but I remain,

Still I will know your face.
